Updating Commission Plans within Deals

In this article, we will review how to update commission plan calculations within a deal.

Important:

• The steps in this article cover updating commission calculations within a deal, not updating the actual commission plan. If the commission plan is not calculating correctly and needs to be updated, please reach out to support.
• Commission plans are complex, therefore, the steps provided may not cover every scenario needed to update commission plan calculations. 
• If the deal has a proration for capping, specific steps will need to be taken to correctly add the appropriate line items to the deal. 
• If you are unable to update the commission plans on your own, or have questions, please reach out to the SkySlope Books Support team!

How to Update Commission Plans within a Deal

Step One:  Determine if the commission plan is locked or unlocked

The steps to change the commission plan will differ depending on whether the commission plan is set up as Locked (Enforced) or Unlocked (Not Enforced).

1. To determine which is applicable, go to the Deal and scroll to the line item that you want to update.  

2. Click on the lock icon to the right of the line item.  In this example, we will be updating the commission plan for the Agent Commission.

3. After clicking on the lock icon, one of two messages will appear.

Deal is locked (Enforced) - The following pop-up will appear:

Deal is unlocked (Not Enforced) - The following pop-up will appear:

Step Two: Update the Commission Plan  

Based on whether it is unlocked or locked, follow the appropriate instructions below.

Option 1: Deal is Unlocked

1. If you receive the Deal is unlocked pop-up, click "Yes, Edit"

2. The % and Amount Type fields will now be editable

3. Update the % and/or Amount Type to correct the desired amount

4. Click Recalculate > Confirm the amount is correct in the Calculator on the right hand of the screen

5. Once the amount is correct, Click Save

Option 2: Deal is Locked

Note: The steps provided below are to update the commission plan calculation for this deal only.  If you need to update the commission plan for all deals, please report this to the support team.

1. If you received the Deal is Locked message, follow the steps below 

2. Click on "Switch to Classic View" at the top of the screen - the options to edit commission plans are only available within this view

3.  Select Rules in the top right-hand corner of the screen

4. Click Customize Rules

5. Next, click on the pencil (edit) icon for the Element (Commission Plan) calculation you want to edit.

Note: If you are unsure which element you want to update, please reach out to the support team.  You also have the option of clicking Restore to Initial State if you make changes that are not correct.

6. Scroll to the bottom Rules + section > Click on the pencil (edit) icon

Important: Updating the Rule title field will NOT update the calculation, you must click on the pencil (edit) icon.

7. Locate the % field at the bottom of this section

8. Update the % to the desired amount for this deal, in this example it was updated from 70% to 65%

9. Click Save

10. Scroll to the bottom of the Deal Page to confirm the calculations to the agent are correct and click Save in the bottom right.
